Welcome!
My name is Jen Strawser, and this year I am teaching Creative Writing, English 9CP and ELD 2. I grew up here in Vista, and am thrilled to be back at RBV. I hold an A.A. degree in Child Development, a B.A. in Literature and Writing Studies with an emphasis in Creative Writing, and a minor in Spanish. In May of 2019, I completed a Master's degree in Literature and Writing Studies from CSUSM.
In my free time, I practice yoga, rock climb, and hike. During school vacations, I'm an avid traveller - I love seeing new landscapes and learning about new cultures. I've travelled in Central America, South America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. In 2016, I put my Spanish degree to use when I decided to teach English as a Second Language as a volunteer in Peru for two months. I was fortunate to live with a Spanish-speaking family, who helped me practice Spanish and get comfortable in my second language.
I hope to foster in each student a passion for reading and a love for learning. I'm looking forward to a great year!
I encourage both parents and students to use this website as a way to stay informed about our class activities and assignments.
